Sara & Max

OUR STORY

We met after graduation...

As a Michigan Wolverine, Sara graduated college May 1, 2013 — early compared to other schools, and well before everyone else. Once she moved home, she had to improvise if she wanted to go out with her friends. On May 23rd, Sara succumbed to her friend Sam’s request to join her at an NYU graduation party in NYC, which consisted of the entire graduating class. Sara went and little did she know, this was the start of something big.

Max, involved in the planning of the Graduation party, was exhausted early and was starting to say his goodbyes when he looked up and saw this "gangly" blonde. Despite eyeing her, he was “too tired" to say hello and instead focused on leaving.

As it turns out, Sara had been eyeing Max all throughout the party, which happened to be pretty easy given his height of 6'6".  The only issue was that she felt it was inappropriate to introduce herself because she was technically crashing. Luckily, Sara's friends noticed her gazing at Max and decided that etiquette was no match for fate. As both groups moved around the party, one of Sara's friends jokingly shoved her into Max.

The rest was history...and also the beginning.

The Engagement

Four and a half years later, Max knew it was time to pop the question. Sara had passed the ultimate test — living with Max and his roommate, Ben, for over a year. It was important for Max that it be a legitimate surprise. Max was adamant Sara would have nothing to do with this special day.

In mid-September 2017, Max began planning. He knew where he wanted to propose: Hudson, NY, along the river where he and Sara took their first day trip. He had picked out the ring (with just a bit of help from Sara's little sis, Katie!). The last dilemma – how would he get Sara and both families 3 hours away from home without spoiling the surprise? With a lot of help from both sets of parents and siblings, Max pulled it off.

On October 14, 2017, Sara drove up to Hudson, NY with her entire family (except for Nana), thinking she was spending the day “enjoying the foliage” with Grandma. Meanwhile, Max ventured up with Nana and the entire Wein family and to set up camp along the river. As the Loshaks made their way to the river, Sara turned, and to her surprise, saw Max sitting alone along the river. At this point, she still had no idea what was happening (props for Max!).

Max then pulled out a black box from his pocket and got on one knee... NOW she knew, Sara said YES!!

As the final surprise in Max’s grand plan, both families popped out and were able to join Sara and Max in their celebration of...their new beginning.
